Trade Compliance Specialist EMEA

This is an exciting opportunity to join a thriving and growing US manufacturing firm as their Trade Compliance Specialist. You will be the go-to person for Trade Compliance matters for Europe and helping to strengthen the programme across the region. This position can be based in the UK, the Netherlands, or Belgium on a remote basis.

 

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: DIRECTOR OF GLOBAL TRADE COMPLIANCE

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Knowledge of European and regional Customs import and export laws and regulations
  • Ability to interface with all our clients’ internal departments
  • Capability to represent the company with regards to all import/export related government agencies and external European consultants when required
  • Experience of European commercial policy measures and rules of origin
  • Ability to coordinate and deliver project goals and objectives within a defined time period in a cross-functional environment
  • Ability to be proactive in recognising and adjusting to shifting priorities
  • Self-motivated and directed, capable of operating semi-autonomously
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • P.C. experience and skills, specifically EXCEL, WORD and Outlook
  • BA/BS with 2 to 3 years related import/export operational and compliance experience
  • Proficient in English. Ability to speak French and/or German a plus.
RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Participate in overall management of our clients’ imports/exports to ensure compliance with all applicable EU/UK/Norway Customs laws and regulations
  • Liaison with local Customs Brokers as needed, to facilitate the movement of goods
Daily

  • Research and respond to all inquiries from the Customs Broker
  • Determine the classifications for all our clients’ products
  • Monitor the Broker and import/export shipments for exceptions within Europe
  • Resolve all exceptions with European Customs clearances for the timely movement of the goods
  • Ensure the Broker has all documentation from vendors to clear European Customs; resolve any open issues
  • Manage the global our clients’ product dictionary to include HTS and ECN
Weekly

  • Upload all global customers/suppliers into Denied Party Tool and review any potential matches against Global Denied parties lists
  • Perform post-entry audit to ensure the our clients’ product is entered in compliance with all applicable rules and regulations for the EU/UK/Norway
  • Work with the Broker and prepare corrective actions if necessary
Monthly/Quarterly

  • Review Broker KPI and prepare summary of corrective actions if necessary
  • Prepare internal monthly Customs reports
  • Audit the entries to the payment records to ensure the payments match the entered values
  • Attend the quarterly meetings with the Broker
As Necessary

  • Review and update the vendor shipping instructions
  • Review and update the European Customs Broker SOP
  • Review and ensure products qualify for duty-free treatment prior to import
  • Participate and support projects as necessary
