  • France Office

Leonid Group has been retained by a global aerospace and defence firm to appoint an Export Control Investigator to join their Legal and Compliance department based in Toulouse, France.

Join a global organisation operating in a dynamic, international environment where collaboration across functions, regions, and cultures is central to success. The role offers the opportunity to work on complex regulatory and compliance matters with colleagues and stakeholders across multiple jurisdictions.

This role is critical in strengthening the organisation's capability to investigate potential Export Control violations and, where necessary, support the preparation of disclosures to relevant export control authorities as part of an effective Export Control compliance framework. The role contributes to the oversight and coordination of investigations across the organisation, covering a broad range of operations, products, and business activities. It also involves close collaboration with a diverse network of Export Control and compliance professionals across multiple business units and regions to ensure investigations are conducted consistently, thoroughly, and in line with applicable regulatory requirements.

What's on offer

  • Competitive remuneration, including performance-related incentives and long-term savings or share participation opportunities where applicable.

  • Flexible and hybrid working arrangements that promote collaboration, innovation, and work-life balance.

  • Comprehensive health and wellbeing benefits, including medical coverage and access to wellbeing initiatives.

  • Ongoing learning and professional development through extensive training resources, career development programmes, and opportunities for internal mobility.

  • A supportive and inclusive workplace that encourages continuous learning, knowledge sharing, and professional growth.

Key responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, and lead export control investigations, including assessing potential compliance concerns, establishing the relevant facts, identifying applicable regulatory requirements, determining root causes, and recommending corrective and preventive actions.

  • Coordinate and manage external legal advisers and other specialist stakeholders where required.

  • Prepare investigation reports, regulatory submissions, and other documentation for internal governance and, where appropriate, relevant regulatory authorities.

  • Produce management reports, analyse trends and key performance indicators, and present findings to senior stakeholders.

  • Collaborate with compliance, legal, and business teams to strengthen export control programmes, enhance governance, and reduce the risk of future compliance issues.

  • Partner with business units and regional teams to promote consistent application of export control policies, investigation processes, escalation procedures, and reporting requirements.

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of best practices for internal investigations, including delivering training and raising awareness across relevant functions.

Ideal candidate profile

  • Significant experience in export control compliance, including strong knowledge of U.S. Export Control Regulations (ITAR and EAR). Experience with EU or other international export control regimes would be advantageous.

  • Experience conducting or supporting regulatory, compliance, or internal investigations within a complex international organisation.

  • Excellent relationship-building, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence across different functions and levels of the organisation.

  • Highly organised, proactive, and able to manage multiple priorities while meeting demanding deadlines.

  • Demonstrates sound judgement, discretion, integrity, and the ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters.

  • Excellent written and spoken English; additional languages would be an advantage.

Please note that this role may be subject to background screening or security clearance, depending on applicable regulations and business requirements.
