Export Control and Trade Compliance Officer

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a leading organisation in the aerospace, defence, and engineering sectors as an Export Control and Trade Compliance Officer.
The Export Control and Trade Compliance Officer will play a critical role in ensuring compliance with UK export regulations and international trade compliance requirements. This position involves reviewing transactions and transactional documents, coordinating export authorisations, and maintaining records as required by relevant regulations. We are seeking an individual with excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with a range of stakeholders. The role will report to the UK Export Lead.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with relevant export regulations regarding the trade of export-controlled products.
- Accurately identify export licence requirements for both domestic and international shipments.
- Coordinate and facilitate the application of export authorisations with relevant licensing authorities.
- Review sales orders to ensure compliance with export regulatory requirements.
- Provide trade compliance expertise and support to internal customers.
- Liaise with external customers regarding licence requirements.
- Coordinate with international counterparts regarding re-export licence requirements.
- Maintain accurate record-keeping of export authorisation documentation, including updated databases and tracking of pending licence applications.
- Manage and prepare licence reporting requirements.
- Assist in implementing internal trade compliance policies and procedures within the organisation.
- Conduct visitor reviews and approvals.
- Maintain export-related record-keeping functions in compliance with legal requirements.
Education and Experience:
- A university degree is expected; directly related experience and/or training is preferred.
- Practical experience in implementing export trade compliance programmes is essential.
- In-depth knowledge of UK and EU Export Laws and Regulations; prior experience with managing Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) programmes or supply chain management is desirable.
- Good understanding of UK, ITAR, and EAR regulations and their application.
- Proven experience in an international trade compliance role.
- Experience with SAP Hana is advantageous.
- A desire to work closely with the business.
- Enjoy collaborating across functions.
