Global Chief Risk Officer

Position Overview:

Leonid Group has been retained to hire a Global Chief Risk Officer (CRO), based in Texas. This is a strategic leadership role with end-to-end responsibility for designing, implementing, and maintaining a robust and forward-looking Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) framework for a global manufacturing leader with over 10,000 employees worldwide. The CRO will provide risk leadership across all aspects of our heavy industrial manufacturing operations, including supply chain, compliance, insurance, financial exposures, and operational risks across our facilities in the U.S., Europe, Asia, and Mexico. This role reports directly to the CFO and will lead a team of four risk professionals.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and execute a comprehensive Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) strategy aligned with the company’s global operations and growth objectives.
  • Proactively identify, assess, monitor, and mitigate key business risks across operational, financial, compliance, and strategic domains.
  • Lead the global insurance and risk financing strategy, including policy design, carrier relationships, and claims management.
  • Evaluate and optimize insurance coverage across property, casualty, product liability, workers’ compensation, D&O, and cyber risk.
  • Collaborate with plant leadership and global operations teams to ensure risk controls and safety procedures are standardized and effective across all locations.
  • Assess and manage supply chain and geopolitical risks relevant to the company’s global footprint.
  • Partner with legal, compliance, internal audit, and EH&S teams to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and internal policies.
  • Serve as a key advisor to the Audit and Risk Committee, providing regular updates on risk exposures and mitigation strategies.
  • Lead the development and testing of business continuity and crisis management plans.
  • Act as a central figure in incident response and recovery during operational disruptions.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing risk team of four professionals.
  • Foster a risk-aware culture across all levels of the organization.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Risk Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field (Master’s degree or MBA preferred).
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in enterprise risk management or related risk leadership roles within a global, asset-intensive, industrial or manufacturing environment.
  • Deep understanding of insurance markets, risk transfer mechanisms, and claims management.
  • Experience building and managing ERM frameworks in a multinational context.
  • Proven leadership ability with experience managing cross-functional teams.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and stakeholder engagement skills, including working with senior executives and board-level governance.

 

Preferred Attributes:

  • Certifications such as CRM, ARM, CPCU, or similar are a plus.
  • Prior experience navigating risk in unionized, regulated, or high-risk environments.
  • Familiarity with global regulatory frameworks and risk reporting standards.
  • Ability to travel internationally as required (10% expected)
