We are supporting a global, high-technology aerospace & defence firm to appoint an Export Control Specialist.
Key responsibilities include:
• Providing regulatory guidance to internal customers.
• Reviewing technical data such as engineering drawings to determine the appropriate export classification.
• Making access control determinations for the company's facility and IT systems.
• Classifying products for export such as determining the appropriate USML, ECCN, and Harmonized Tariff Schedule classifications.
• Drafting, submitting and managing export authorizations.
• Interfacing with internal functions (i.e., Program Management, Supply Chain) to ensure all work processes comply with U.S. trade regulations.
• Drafting and updating procedures, instructions, forms, and templates.
• Managing daily export activities including interaction with freight forwarders.
• Reviewing international shipments to determine the proper export authorization.
• Providing compliance training to internal customers.
• Conducting investigations into potential compliance issues.
• Conducting audits and risk assessments.
• Collaborating with the compliance team on various projects, conferences, audits, assessments, reports, etc.
• Providing guidance and assistance on a broad range of export compliance matters, including:
- Technology Reviews, Classification and Access Controls
- Export Licensing
- Audits
- Record keeping
- Denied Party Screening/ KYC
- Incoterms
Required qualifications and experience:
• Bachelor's Degree Required and 5 or more years of relevant experience and practical knowledge in US export compliance.
• Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
• Legally authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams) and similar software applications.
• Detailed knowledge of the Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and Foreign Trade Regulations (FTR)
• Specifically, experience with:
- Export Classification
- Export Authorization Determination
- Export Licensing
- Technology and Access Controls
- Forwarder Management
- Automated Commercial Environment
- Audits
Knowledge, skills & abilities:
• Must be able to research, interpret, and apply the EAR, ITAR and FTR
• Ability and experience with reviewing and interpreting technical documents such as drawings, specifications, manuals, etc.
• Experience with Technology/ Access Controls
• Must be able to implement advanced export/import control concepts.
• Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work with and through global, cross-functional teams.
• Excellent time-management skills, especially a strong ability to organize multiple projects at one time and prioritize them.
• Excellent legal research skills.
• Ability to analyse problems, identify alternative solutions, project consequences of proposed actions and implement recommendations in support of goals.
• Ability to work in a team atmosphere.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office; and
• Experience with SAP, DECCS, & SNAP-R
