Title: Legal Counsel

Location: Manchester, United Kingdom

A fast growing technology company is currently seeking a Legal Counsel to join their legal function, reporting into the Head of Legal and based at their office in central Manchester.

Responsibilities:

The role will support the Head of Legal and Senior Legal Counsel on a range of legal areas including:

  • Commercial Contracts:
    • Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of commercial contracts, including software licensing agreements, service agreements, and partnership agreements.
    • Ensure that contracts are in compliance with legal requirements and adequately protect the company's interests.
    • Provide guidance to internal stakeholders on contractual rights and obligations.
  • Legal Compliance:
    • Stay abreast of relevant laws and regulations impacting the company, including data protection and intellectual property laws.
    • Advise the business on legal risks and compliance issues.
    • Helping the General Counsel to implement policies and procedures to ensure legal compliance across the organisation.
  • Employment Law:
    • Assist with employment-related matters, including employment contracts, terminations, and workplace policies.
    • Provide support to HR on employment law issues, including discrimination, harassment, and employee relations matters.
  • Risk Management:
    • Conduct legal research and analysis to assess potential liabilities and provide recommendations for risk mitigation.
    • Assist the General Counsel with any legal disputes and claims.
Requirements:

  • Qualified solicitor in the UK with at least 2* years PQE.
*PQE is used as a guide only and candidates outside of this range who can demonstrate transferable skills and experience will be considered.

  • Trained in private practice at a well-regarded law firm.
  • Strong experience in drafting and negotiating commercial contracts.
  • Familiarity with technology-related legal issues, including data protection and intellectual property.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience in employment law is a bonus.
