We are seeking an experienced and strategic-thinking R&D Tax Senior Consultant to join our expanding team. In this leadership-oriented role, you will oversee complex R&D tax credit engagements, manage and mentor junior consultants, and serve as a trusted advisor to clients across a wide range of industries. This position is ideal for individuals with a strong background in R&D tax consulting who are ready to take ownership of projects and contribute to the growth and development of our practice.
Responsibilities:
-Lead end-to-end R&D tax credit studies, including project planning, technical interviews, and final deliverables.
-Manage and review the work of Tax Consultants I & II, providing guidance, training, and quality control.
-Conduct in-depth analyses to identify qualifying research activities and associated QREs.
-Review and sign off on technical reports and financial documentation to ensure compliance with federal and state R&D tax regulations.
-Handle complex scenarios such as multi-entity control group assessments and Section 174 amortization implications.
-Act as the primary point of contact for client communications and tax strategy discussions.
-Monitor evolving R&D tax laws and IRS guidance and interpret their impact on client eligibility and documentation standards.
-Assist with Audit representation including drafting IDR responses and working with the IRS to resolve client matters
Experience & Qualifications:
-Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, Engineering, or a related field.
-3–5 years of experience in R&D tax consulting, public accounting, or related tax advisory services.
-Deep knowledge of Section 41 and Section 174 rules, including experience with audit defense and IRS documentation standards.
-Proven experience leading client engagements and managing consulting teams.
-Exceptional technical writing skills and the ability to synthesize complex engineering or scientific information into IRS-compliant documentation.
-Strong communication and client relationship skills
-Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other tax research and analysis tools.
-Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
